This Thursday, October 23, Dabeiba experienced a new day full of emotion, within the framework of the Western subregional of the 48th Departmental Sports Games of Antioquia 2025 – “Everyone’s game.” The programming extended past midnight, officially closing at 12:29 am on Friday the 24th, after a day full of competition and sportsmanship.
This date was characterized by the fact that ultimate competitions ended, chess delivered its first women’s titles and athletics, skating and table tennis continued to crown subregional champions. In addition, team sports advanced in their group stage with duels that were well attended by the public.
The competitions began very early, at 6:00 am, with the final ultimate game on the Guillermo Madrid sports unit court. In a match marked by the spirit of the game, the Frontino delegation won 15-2 against Dabeiba, a result that gave them the subregional title. Beyond the scoreboard, both teams stood out for their discipline and camaraderie, reflecting the values of respect and self-management that characterize the sport of flying disc.
In chess, which is played at the House of Culture, four rounds were held during the day and the first titles in the women’s branch were defined. In the Under-13 category, first place went to Marina Cadavid Pérez, from Santa Fe de Antioquia, with two points. In Under-17, Paulina Carmona Orrego, from Sopetrán, was crowned champion with one point, the same as her rivals, but with a favorable tiebreaker. In this category, Alexa Higuita Tuberquia took second place and Marilin Guisao Zapata was third, both representatives of Buriticá.
Athletics, carried out in the Guillermo Madrid sports unit, delivered 15 new titles in track and field events. Frontino continues to lead the honor roll with eight victories, the same number of second places and five third places. San Jerónimo is still very close, also with eight wins, seven seconds and three thirds, while Dabeiba, the host delegation, has seven victories and maintains an outstanding performance.
The skating, held in the streets of the municipality, completed five tests full of emotion. The fight continued between Frontino and Santa Fe de Antioquia, who dominated the day. With the results, Frontino maintains the leadership of the honor roll with four victories, six second places and two third places. Santa Fe de Antioquia follows with four first places and two third places. Sopetrán and San Jerónimo also had outstanding presentations.
In table tennis, which is held in the Plaza de Mercado auditorium, the titles were awarded in the men’s doubles category. In the 13 to 15 year old category, the best were Simón Gaviria and Gerónimo Monroy, from Frontino, while in the 16 and older category, the title went to Juan Vargas and Carlos Giraldo, from Sopetrán. With these results, Frontino leads the honor roll of the discipline, with two titles and a subtitle, closely followed by Sopetrán, who also has two first places.
Team sports (basketball, soccer, indoor soccer, indoor soccer and volleyball) continued their group stage with a second intense date. Very even matches were played with a good technical level. One of the most notable results was Dabeiba’s 12-0 win over Buriticá in men’s soccer, a match that ignited the excitement of the local fans who attended the sports scene.
The day lasted until late at night and ended at 12:29 am on Friday, October 24, with an electrifying volleyball match in which Dabeiba beat Sopetrán 3-2, with partials of 25-24, 24-26, 23-25, 25-19 and 15-8. It was an even duel, which was defined in five sets and closed a long sporting day.
The competitions will continue this Friday, October 24, starting at 7:00 am, with new finals in athletics, chess and skating, in addition to the decisive matches in the individual table tennis modality and the duels that will define those classified for the subregional finals.
