Frenchman Ciryl Gane, MMA star, will participate in “a monumental event”as described by the site The Score. On June 14, the White House will host the “Freedom Fights 250”, the name given to an evening of six mixed martial arts fights organized on the occasion of Donald Trump‘s birthday and the festivities for the 250th anniversary of the United States.
The highly anticipated card for this evening was revealed on Saturday. Mr. Gane will face formidable Brazilian Alex Pereira for the interim world heavyweight title in the UFC, MMA’s most powerful league. Already champion in two other weight categories, Mr. Pereira will try against the Frenchman to win a third belt. A feat that would be “unprecedented”underlines ESPN.
An arena with 100,000 seats?
The New York Times believes that the event “reflects the connection between UFC CEO Dana White and Trump”. Mr. White, supported in his early days as a developer by the man who was still only a famous real estate mogul, celebrated his election with the Trump clan in November 2024 at Mar-a-Lago.
According to The Independent, quoting Mr. Trump, a 100,000-seat enclosure will be installed near the presidential residence. A plan “of a Kim Jong-Un level of madness”denounced critics, according to the newspaper.
An IndyCar race – similar to Formula 1 – on the streets of Washington and the “Patriot Games”bringing together the best American high school athletes, are part of the other festivities planned for the 250th anniversary of the United States.
