Francesco Molino: Remembering a Rigorous & Passionate Lawyer

by Archynetys Economy Desk

The lawyer Francesco Molino, a leading figure in the Arezzo Court and protagonist in Italian criminal trials for over half a century, has passed away at the age of 84. Born in Melfi (Potenza), but trained and rooted in Tuscany, Molino obtained his legal qualification in 1972 and since then has built a career marked by a passion for law and free and intense defence.

A career marked by rigor and passion
Founder of the Molino Detti Law Firm, six decades ago, Molino was the owner of his firm in via Fonte Veneziana 10, in Arezzo, where until a few days ago he still maintained an active presence. The study was “founded in 1972 by the lawyer Francesco Molino” and that, for “50 years of life in the Arezzo Bar, he has dealt with hundreds of important cases”.
His image was well known: an elegant criminal lawyer, with a profound knowledge of the law, but also capable of passionate and immediate, often instinctive, arguments which earned him respect in the courtroom and esteem among colleagues and adversaries.

Famous defenses and national presence
Among the cases that have marked his career is that relating to the traffic policeman Luigi Spaccarotella, for whom, accused of having fatally shot the fan Gabriele Sandri on 11 November 2007, he took care of the defense line.
In the field of high-level criminal justice, there is also his presence as a civil party lawyer in the historic appeal process in the Supreme Court for the murder of Cà Raffaello, Gratien Alabi, “father Graziano”, sentenced to 25 years for the murder of Guerrina Piscaglia: Molino represented the victim’s husband and son, together with the lawyer Nicola Detti.
These commitments confirm the national dimension of his activity, although his professional action was firmly rooted in the Arezzo area.

Although he was originally from Basilicata, Arezzo has in fact become his city. His study, his gaze and his presence in the local courtrooms made him a point of reference. The studio profile explains this by talking about “coordinator and guide” of legal activities. studiomolinodetti.it
Until ten days ago he was engaged in professional activities at the Court of Perugia, a sign that his passion for the profession had never abandoned him.

Mourning and the last farewell
In the last few days he had suffered an ischemia, which had worsened his health conditions; in the night between Sunday and Monday he passed away in his home in via Eritrea, near the historic studio in via Marconi.
The body will be exhibited at the Misericordia di Arezzo headquarters in via Garibaldi; the funeral will be held on Wednesday 29 October at 3pm in the Cathedral of Arezzo, with subsequent burial in the city cemetery next to his wife, Maria Gabriella Coleschi, who passed away in 2015.
He leaves behind his daughter Francesca, a lawyer, who continues the continuity and legacy of her father’s profession.

The Arezzo Court and the world of law have lost one of the most representative figures of recent decades. Our most sincere condolences to the family.
