Teh commercial sector in Foz Do Iguaçu spearheaded job creation in July, outperforming all other economic sectors. This reinforces the trend seen in the first half of the year,where it accounted for 40% of new employment opportunities.


According to data from the General Registry of Occupy and Paradas (Caged),the commercial sector saw 1,317 hires and 1,134 separations in July,resulting in a net positive of 183 jobs. This surpasses sectors like services/tourism (160), industry (26), agriculture (3), and construction (-64).

Across the five sectors of the local economy tracked by Caged, there were 3,680 hires and 3,372 layoffs during July, leading to a total gain of 308 jobs.

In the first seven months of 2025, Foz do Iguaçu’s economy added 1,981 jobs, calculated from 26,871 hires and 24,890 layoffs.

Here’s a breakdown by sector:

  • Agriculture: -6 jobs
  • Industry: 88 jobs
  • Construction: -16 jobs
  • Trade: 840 jobs
  • Services (including tourism): 1,075 jobs
  • Total: 1,981 jobs

First Semester

in the first semester of 2025,commerce accounted for 40% of the jobs created in Foz do Iguaçu,from January to June,according to Caged data. February was the strongest month for the sector, with 217 new jobs.
