Flu Vaccines Lombardy 2024: Campaign Details

Also this year Lombardy Region plays in advance on the preparation of the public anti -influence vaccination campaign, aimed at categories at risk but also to those who, although they do not fall within it, want to get vaccinated for free.

For the former, the administrations will start from the beginning of October in the studies of general practitioners and pediatricians of free choice. The latter can start booking the serums in the pharmacy from 1 October and, once the first deliveries are received, they will be able to vaccinate in the studio, at home and in the temporary clinics set up in the centers of the province of Sondrio where there are people without assigned doctor, such as in Chiavenna, Tirano and Bormio.

For citizens who do not fall among the categories at risk there is an important novelty: they will be able to book to get the vaccine for free much earlier than in recent years, from 13 October in the vaccination pharmacies and from 20 October in the public vaccine centers of ASST Valtellina and Alto Lario, through the regional portal booking health and based on the agendas loaded by pharmacies and vaccination centers.

In the past, access for non -risk subjects was less easy, since it was necessary to wait after the fragile categories, often until November (from 4, last year). Now the Region aims to reduce the individual risk of illness and transmission to subjects at high risk of complications or hospitalization, as well as to contain connected social costs.

General medical doctors and pediatricians have already been asked in these days to access the regional platform to express the needs of flu vaccines by 15 September. From 1 October they will be able to order them in the pharmacy to start vaccinating as soon as the first deliveries arrive. Each doctor, then, will organize themselves independently: there are those who immediately vaccine, those who wait a few days or those who prefer collective sessions. The advice for citizens is to hear your contact doctor.

Last year, in the province of Sondrio, in mid -April – therefore in the countryside ended – 32,316 doses of flu vaccine had been administered, out of a total of 1 million and 896 thousand throughout Lombardy, about 44 thousand less than the same period of 2023.

The objective of the Region is to vaccinate as many people as possible, also through co-administration with other vaccines (anti-covid, anti-pneumococcus, anti-Herpes zoster and anti-defterite-tetanus-opening).

Finally, there is a Vax Day on the weekend of 18-19 October that all ASST, including ASST Valtellina and Alto Lario, will have to organize in their centers.
