Al-Haddad explained, during an interview on the 6 o’clock program, with journalist Azza Mustafa, broadcast on Al-Hayat channel, that seasonal influenza represents about 65% of the viruses currently circulating, pointing out that the decline in demand for obtaining the influenza vaccine due to public fear of vaccines contributed to the increase in the severity of the spread of the virus this year.
Corona is not over, but it is less dangerous
The head of the Allergy and Immunology Department pointed out that the Corona virus still exists, but its severity has become less, and it has become very similar to ordinary colds and influenza in terms of symptoms and medical treatment.
Al-Haddad added that influenza is considered a clinical disease, with about 80% of those infected recovering at home through rest and taking usual medications without the need for complex medical interventions.
Strict warning against the use of antibiotics
He stressed that antibiotics are strictly prohibited in treating influenza, because they are intended for bacterial infections, not viral ones. He stressed that their incorrect use does not cure the disease, but rather leads to the elimination of beneficial bacteria in the body, causes health complications, and weakens immunity.
