Fatal Collision in Mulberry: Woman Dies After Attempting to Pass in No-Passing Zone
A 36-year-old woman from Ft. meade, Florida, died Tuesday evening after a head-on collision with a semi-truck on Hwy. 640 near Watson Rd. in Mulberry, according to the Polk county Sheriff’s Office (PCSO).
The PCSO reported that the woman was driving a GMC Terrain and allegedly driving aggressively, speeding and passing othre vehicles, before attempting to pass in a clearly marked no-passing zone. Her SUV then collided with an oncoming semi-truck.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi-truck driver was transported to a local hospital and is expected to recover.
