Aceh Governor Muzakir Manaf or Mualem visited a number of areas affected by flooding in the eastern and central regions. Mualem saw the flood and landslide disaster in Aceh as being like the tsunami that struck 21 years ago.
“I personally see that this flood and landslide is the second tsunami,” said Mualem as reported by detikSumut, Friday (5/12/2025).

Mualem said floods hit 18 districts/cities in Aceh. Mualem said the areas worst hit by flooding were Aceh Tamiang, East Aceh, North Aceh, Bireuen, Bener Meriah and Central Aceh.
He also hopes that people will be patient in facing disasters. He said he was sad to see this condition.
“We are sad and sad to see this condition. We hope that the people of Aceh will be strong in facing the trials of floods and landslides,” explained Mualem.
During a visit to Aceh Tamiang, Mualem handed over 30 tons of basic food aid donated by residents of Medan, North Sumatra. The aid packages contain drinking water, rice, instant noodles, biscuits, eggs and a number of medicines. Currently, the area is still lacking clean water and gas.
“Thank God, today we met our basic food needs. We are still overwhelmed with clean water and LPG cylinders. In the next few days we will follow up and fix the affected locations,” said Mualem.
