by Archynetys Sports Desk

Flamengo and Corinthians will compete in the 2026 Brazilian Super Cup on February 1st, at the Mané Garrincha stadium, in Brasília. The location and date of the match between the current champions of the Brasileirão and the Copa do Brasil, respectively, were announced by the CBF this Wednesday afternoon (31).

The stadium in the federal capital had already been named as the favorite for the confrontation — other possibilities were arenas in the Northeast region. To welcome the two clubs with the biggest fans in Brazilian football, Mané Garrincha’s stands will be divided half and half.

The most talked about date previously was January 24th, for the Super Cup to open the national calendar. Now, the cup will be played after the first round of the new edition of the Brasileirão.

In the first weekend of February, Flamengo and Corinthians have scheduled games for the State Championship, which must be postponed.

The Brazilian Super Cup was held again in 2020 and this is the fourth time that the tournament will be held in Brasília. In the 2020, 2021 and 2023 editions, Flamengo was also present, accumulating two titles and a runner-up. The red-black team is the current champion, having beaten Botafogo, in Belém, at the beginning of 2025.

Flamengo and Corinthians faced each other in the Brazilian Super Cup in 1991, when the São Paulo club, then Brazilian champion, got the better of the Rio de Janeiro club, who had won the Brazilian Cup.
