USD Falls: 2023’s Worst Year & Silver Plunge

The US dollar is on track to end the year with its worst performance in seven years, measured against a basket of competing currencies.

The ICE U.S. dollar index rose 0.2% on Wednesday, in the final trading session of 2025, but has fallen 9.2% since the start of the year, giving it its worst annual performance since 2017, when it fell 9.9%, according to Dow Jones Market Data. Right now it takes $1.174 to buy one euro.
