St. Florian on January 28th, 2026 – Two operations within a few minutes challenged the Markt St. Florian Volunteer Fire Department on Wednesday morning.

At around 7 a.m., the fire department was initially called to a fire alarm in a company. It quickly became clear on site that it was a false alarm.

While the emergency services were still busy with the clarification, a traffic accident between a car and a truck occurred directly in the intersection area of the company premises on the B1 (Wiener Straße). The driver of the car was trapped in the vehicle.

Thanks to the immediate presence of the fire brigade, human rescue could be initiated immediately. The woman was quickly and gently freed from the vehicle. The emergency doctor then provided first aid at the scene of the accident before the injured person was taken to a hospital in Linz for further treatment.

As is usual in traffic accidents that require people to be rescued, another fire department – in this case the Raffelstetten volunteer fire department – was also alerted by the Upper Austria State Warning Center to provide support.

After completing the rescue measures, the fire department carried out extensive cleaning and clearing work in the intersection area. This enabled the accident site to be cleared quickly and early morning traffic on the B1, which had come to a standstill, to be reopened.

Rear-end collision on the B1 – Linz-Land district
On January 28, 2026, at around 7 a.m., a 45-year-old Bosnian was driving a tractor-trailer with a semi-trailer on Wiener Straße, B1, coming from the Asten area in the direction of Linz. He intended to turn left when indicating the change of direction and stopped due to oncoming traffic. At the same time, a 43-year-old woman from Linz drove her car directly after the tractor-trailer and drove head-on into the stopped truck. The 43-year-old was given first aid by the rescue team and the emergency doctor and then taken to the Linz accident hospital. An alcohol test was carried out on the 45-year-old, which was negative.
