Fast & Furious 11: Will the Sequel Be Canceled?

by Archynetys Entertainment Desk

With Fast X not performing as expected at the box office, fans are now curious if Fast & Furious 11 is canceled or not. The finale of the franchise was divided into two parts, of which the first one dropped in 2023.

However, since then, Universal Studios has not worked much on the production of Fast X Part 2. The previous movie ended with a cliffhanger that saw Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto try to save himself and his son from a huge explosion.

Thus, fans are confused about a possible Fast & Furious 11 and whether it has been canceled.

Has Fast & Furious 11 been canceled?

No, Fast and Furious 11 has not been canceled yet. However, little to no progress has been made in its production. The entirety of the issue reportedly falls on budget restraints that Universal Studios has now decided to apply.

According to a report by The Wall Street JournalUniversal wants to make the last film with a budget of just $200 million. This decision came after Fast X Part 1 was made on a reported budget of $340 million, while only grossing $704 million worldwide. In order for it to break even, the movie needed to make at least $850 million.

Thus, it seems Universal does not want to take any risk with Fast X Part 2 and will likely cut the roster of the star-studded cast short. They might even decide to shoot domestically rather than having filming locations all over the world.

As for Vin dieselhe has not backed down from the idea of Fast & Furious 11. The actor has been hyping the fans up with Instagram posts. Back in 2024, he shared a concept art which suggested an “American Road Trip” for Fast X Part 2.

This storyline could be feasible given that it allows production to shoot within the United States. It will potentially see Dom and his son travel across the country trying to gather his family. However, without a script and official statement from Universal Studios, nothing can be confirmed about Fast & Furious 11.
