French customs have just revealed a vast action carried out in November against counterfeit perfumes.
The results show a very active criminal organization, present online as well as on the ground.
An exceptional seizure
Between November 12 and 19, Operation “Fragrance” mobilized 1,600 agents. More than 82,000 perfume bottles were confiscated, according to French customs. The Aubervilliers shopping center was a key point, with 12,000 items removed in one day. The services evoke structured circuits and assembly workshops installed in France. The health risks are real.
The products imitate references from major brands, but do not meet the standards. Customs reports vials containing harmful substances, including phthalates. The consequences can range from skin burns to respiratory problems. Buyers are often convinced by very low prices.
Networks linked to crime
The investigators highlight a dimension “ polycriminelle “. The searches led to the discovery of cash, weapons and other illicit products. The authorities also mention 17 illegal content detected online thanks to joint work with fraud prevention.
