The increase implies that, only in January and the first days of February, were detected 1,902 new cases of measleswhich is equivalent to almost a third of the total registered last year, igniting health alerts in different entities.

The measure was announced by the state Secretary of Health, Héctor Raúl Pérez Gómezand must be applied immediately in the following municipalities:
- Guadalajara
- Zapopan
- Tlaquepaque
- Tonala
- Tlajomulco de Zúñiga
- The Jump
- Ixtlahuacán de los Membrillos
The use of face masks will be mandatory for a minimum period of 30 daysas part of the actions to contain the measles infections in the region.
