Undeniable victory for Kimi Antonelli at the 2026 Japanese Grand Prix Formula 1. The Italian driver, who started from pole, recovered the positions lost at the start of Suzuka to achieve his second consecutive victory, ahead of Oscar Piastri and Charles Leclerc on the podium. Carlos Sainz finished in a modest 15th place and Fernando Alonso crossed the finish line 18th.
The race began with a setback for the number ’12’, which fell from the first to sixth position at the start. Oscar Piastri started like lightning and managed to rise to the topclosely followed by Lewis Hamilton.
The Silver Arrows, after falling again when the traffic lights went out, stretched their legs and launched the attack. It didn’t take many laps for George Russell to take second place.while Antonelli stalled behind Leclerc and Norris.
The new world champion was the first to go through the pits, and all those who followed him, mainly Leclerc and Russell, were harmed by the safety car coming out, in reaction to a serious accident involving an Ollie Bearman that had to be treated for the route’s medical services.
Antonelli took advantage of the situation to change his tires, emerging first behind the Safety Car. When it turned off the lights, the Italian never looked back. For his part, Lewis Hamilton, who had also managed to climb, was losing battles until he finished sixth.
Russell also fell and crossed the line fourth, behind a Charles Leclerc who won the civil war at Ferrari, an Oscar Piastri who returns to the podium after not even starting the first two races of the year and a Kimi Antonelli who becomes the first teenager in history to lead the Formula 1 World Championship.
The race was much calmer for the Spanish. Carlos Sainz finished in 15th position and Fernando Alonso in 18thboth climbing by taking advantage of the errors and breakdowns of several rivals, but with hardly any battle.
