The premiere of composer Jānis Lūsēns’ new Christmas concert program “Moments before the light”, in which his wife, flautist Evija Mundeciema also participated, took place on December 8 at the “Ola” music salon in Ķīpsala, and from December 18 to 28, the artists will delight the audience in Baltezera, Ikšķile and Vecā Sv. Gertrude’s Church, Liepāja, Cēsis and Iecava.
The road to Ozolu school (Valkas district), which was renovated and where the composer Jānis Lūsēns furnished the Skaņu lauk space, takes a little more than two hours from the capital. One hundred and sixty kilometers is not the edge of the world, but it is also not that close to Riga, because the Estonian border is only five kilometers away.
A long time before the agreed meeting, Jānis’ spouse Evija calls me with a warning not to listen to the navigation, but to turn off the Vidzeme highway only at the intersection to Aumeistarii.
