Preparing for Collection: A Step-by-Step Guide

To facilitate efficient collection, all designated waste should be placed outside the evening before or by 6:00 AM on the day of the “Tīrā Maja” campaign. Apartment residents should place items near the communal waste bins, while private homeowners should leave them at their usual container placement location.

What You Can Dispose Of: A Comprehensive List

The “Tīrā Maja” campaign accepts a wide range of items, including:

  • Electrical Equipment: Any type and size of unwanted electrical engineering, such as hair dryers, printers, refrigerators, irons, and microwave ovens.
  • Textiles: Reusable clothing, shoes, and home textiles (curtains, bed linen, tablecloths) placed in bags. Items with minor imperfections are also accepted.
  • Glass Packaging: Empty glass bottles and jars, packed in boxes or bags.
  • Waste Paper: Dry,clean paper waste, including writing paper, catalogs, booklets, newspapers, magazines, books, and paper packaging.

The Importance of Responsible Disposal: Protecting Our Environment

Proper disposal of electrical engineering is crucial due to the presence of valuable and hazardous materials. These items contain metals like gold and platinum, as well as toxic heavy metals such as mercury, copper, and lead. Improper disposal can lead to environmental contamination and health risks.

If hazardous waste enters the environment, they can contaminate groundwater and endanger health. The devices transferred to the Cleanr processing points,on the other hand, disassemble and sort according to the components, and they are recycled to then re -use in production.

Cleanr ensures that collected electrical equipment is disassembled, sorted, and recycled, promoting resource recovery and reducing environmental impact. According to the EPA, in 2018, only 38.5% of electronics were recycled in the United States, highlighting the need for such initiatives.

Textile Donations: Giving a Second Life to Your Items

Textiles donated should be in good condition – clean, dry, and free from mold. Items with minor stains or easily repairable damage are also welcome, ensuring they can be reused by others.
