Ok, we now know about the case. But what about euthanasia? Is it allowed in India? Euthanasia can be of two types – active and passive. Active euthanasia, which means inducing death through drugs or injection (basically any external force), is illegal in India. However, passive euthanasia, which consists of withdrawing life support to allow a person to die naturally, is legal. The Supreme Court legalised it in 2018, and guidelines were framed in 2023.
