Cyber Attack on Service Provider Disrupts European Airports

Several airports are experiencing delays due to a cyber attack targeting an external service provider.

A cyber attack targeting an external service provider has resulted in significant delays at numerous european airports. The incident, which occurred on friday night, has rendered automated systems inoperable, forcing staff to resort to manual check-in and boarding procedures.

According to a statement on Brussels Airport‘s website, “This has a major impact on the airplane and will sadly lead to delays and cancellations of flights.” NTB reports that the supplier is “actively working on the case and tries to solve the problem as quickly as possible.”

Brandenburg Airport in BERLIN is also experiencing disruptions. The airport stated on its website that “Due to a technical problem wiht a supplier operating across Europe, there is longer waiting time for check -in.”

Heathrow has identified the affected supplier as Collins Aerospace,according to NTB.

“This has a major impact on the airplane and will unfortunately lead to delays and cancellations of flights.”

Impact on Air Travel

The cyber attack has had a cascading effect, leading to longer wait times, flight delays, and cancellations across multiple airports. Passengers are advised to check with their airlines for the latest updates on their flight status and to arrive at the airport well in advance of their scheduled departure time.
