In Western Europe, encompassing the EU, Aels (including Switzerland), and the United Kingdom, car sales saw a modest increase in July. According to data from Acea, the association of European manufacturers, a total of 1.1 million cars were sold, marking a 5.9% rise compared to the same period in 2024.
Over the first seven months of the year, registrations reached 7.9 million, remaining “practically unchanged” compared to the equivalent period in 2024, Acea reported.
Acea notes that in July electric cars reached a 15.6% share of the market in the European Union, growing compared to 12.5% in 2024.
While electric cars are gaining traction, Acea indicates that their 15.6% market share in the European Union for July, up from 12.5% in 2024, is “still given far from what would be necessary for the transition.” Hybrid vehicles currently hold 34.7% of the market, remaining the preferred choice for consumers.
