Erbil (Rudaw) – The drone attack carried out in the evening hours on Erbil city center was neutralized. Erbil Governor Umed Xoshnav announced that the attack was prevented without causing any damage.
According to the information obtained, a drone attack was attempted targeting residential areas on 100 Metri Road, one of the busy areas of the city.

Erbil Governor Umed Xoshnav, who made a statement to Rûdaw regarding the issue, stated that the security systems noticed the attack early.
Governor Xoshnav said, “A drone attack was carried out against Erbil, but the attack was successfully repelled. The drone in question was shot down near the Rotana Arjaan Hotel and Sky Towers housing project.”
Following the attack attempt, many security forces and investigation teams were dispatched to the region.
Although there was a short-term panic in and around the Sky Towers where the drone crashed, it was learned that, according to initial findings, there was no loss of life or serious material damage.
Security forces launched a large-scale investigation into the origin of the downed drone and who carried out the attack.

Statement from the Kurdistan Counter-Terrorism Unit
On the other hand, the Kurdistan Counter-Terrorism Unit made a statement regarding the attack. In the statement, it was noted that 4 drone attacks against Erbil were destroyed and their parts fell on residential areas.
The statement of the Kurdistan Counter-Terrorism Unit is as follows:
“Tonight at 22:41, coalition forces destroyed and shot down four bomb-laden drones in the skies of Erbil. While the parts and debris of one of the destroyed drones fell into an empty area near a hotel, there was no loss of life in the incident.”
