Helene Fischer: “I was completely overwhelmed”
November 16, 2025 – 7:34 p.mReading time: 2 min.
Next year Helene Fischer will celebrate her 20th stage anniversary. Now she looks back and shares very personal words about her partner Thomas Seitel.
Helene Fischer just announced her big stadium tour in 2026. At the concert series she wants to celebrate two decades of her career with her fans. In an interview with “Bild” she spoke about her beginnings and showed herself to be humble and happy.
Helene Fischer’s first album “From Here to Infinity” was released in 2006 and marked the start of her career 20 years ago. The now 41-year-old had her TV premiere a year earlier: In May 2005, she sang with her then boyfriend Florian Silbereisen on the ARD show “The Wedding Festival of Folk Music”.
Looking back, that was basically a jump into the deep end for the singer. She said that she didn’t even know how the cameras worked. “I was completely overwhelmed. Nobody had explained it to me before,” said Fischer. But then it just worked.
Becoming famous was never her plan, she emphasized. She never dreamed of the fame she has today. At the beginning of her career she was always quite tense, said Helene Fischer. “I often withdrew because I needed my peace and quiet. Even today,” she explained, adding that that’s why she wasn’t very active on social media – it just wasn’t her strength.
Helene Fischer became a mother for the second time this summer. She and her partner, the aerial acrobat Thomas Seitel, have two daughters. The two have been a couple since 2018. In 2021, Fischer released a song, probably her most personal: “Hand in Hand” from her album “Rausch”. It’s about her love story with Seitel. “This song means so much to me. Because it tells our story. And because it was the first time that I opened myself up so deeply,” said Helene Fischer.
Now we’re standing here hand in hand, we’re walking our paths together now, you can feel me, we’re kindred spirits, and our bond is getting stronger every day

The artist, who usually doesn’t reveal much about herself, went on to emphasize: “With this song I made everyone look very deeply. I still get goosebumps when I hear it today. Everything came out of me 100 percent.” With “Hand in Hand” she allowed herself to be “vulnerable. But at the same time strong,” said Fischer.
Here you can listen to “Hand in Hand” and see how Helene Fischer floats in the air with Thomas Seitel during their “Rausch” arena tour and delivers an impressive performance:
