The Switzerland Federal Energy Department (SFOE) has reportedly decided against publishing a study that concluded transitioning from internal combustion engine vehicles to electric vehicles is largely beneficial for the surroundings. Numerous studies over the years have indicated that electric cars are, in the long run, more environmentally kind than fossil fuel-powered cars. The extent of this benefit depends on factors such as driving frequency, kilometers driven, and the energy source used for charging.

However, the environmental impact of manufacturing new vehicles has fueled debate about replacing existing internal combustion engines with new electric cars.

To address these concerns, the SFOE commissioned Infras, a research company, in 2022 to investigate the climate impact of switching from internal combustion engine cars to electric vehicles. the study cost 100,000 Swiss francs (approximately 100,000 euros).

Swiss Magazine Uncovers Suppressed Findings
