According to a spokesperson, several pilots of aircraft had reported the drone. That was around noon. The air traffic from the Polderbaan was then diverted to the Zwanenburgbaan, a different start and runway of Schiphol. Among other things, the Marechaussee and the aviation police have searched for the drone and its driver, but did not find anything. After 45 minutes the Polderbaan opened again.
The spokesperson for the Marechaussee says that it was “a small flying object”. A drone from a hobbyist is assumed. According to the spokesman, air traffic has not been in danger and the incident did not lead to major disruptions.

According to the Marechaussee, there have been more than twenty similar drone reports or incidents this year. Various rules apply to flying with a drone in the Netherlands. Schiphol reports that around the airport it is in principle forbidden to fly with drones.
In Denmark, air traffic was disturbed several times this week by drones at airports. It is still unclear where those drones came from, but the European Commission pointed to Russia.
