Donald Trump’s Pro-Israel Policies and Potential Land Grabs in Gaza

Since his return to power in 2025, President Donald Trump has reaffirmed his strong support for Israel, a stance he touted during his 2024 presidential campaign. At a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump was praised as Israel’s “greatest friend” in the White House.

Pro-Israel Actions

Trump’s administration has taken several pro-Israel measures since his second term began. One notable action was signing an executive order to deport international students protesting Israel’s actions against Palestinians.

The aggressive push against Israel’s critics does not stop there. Trump attacked the International Criminal Court (ICC), which had issued an arrest warrant for Prime Minister Netanyahu, accusing him of committing crimes against humanity in Gaza.

In response, Trump imposed sanctions on the ICC and invited Netanyahu to the White House. During this visit, Trump announced his plan to expel all Palestinians from Gaza and “take over” the territory, a proposal that criticizes international law and is viewed as ethnic cleansing.

“The U.S. will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it, too. We’ll own it,” Trump stated, at a press conference attended by Netanyahu.

Family Interests and Investments

The Trump family may also benefit financially from these actions through investments in Israeli firms. Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, has substantial investments in Israeli businesses involved in illegal settlements in Palestine.

The Gaza “Waterfront Property”

Trump and Kushner have expressed plans to build luxury real estate on Gaza’s Mediterranean coastline after forcibly removing Palestinians. During his inauguration press conference, Trump noted that Gaza offers “some phenomenal location” for development and jobs.

Kushner echoed these sentiments, discussing Gaza’s potential real estate value in an interview at Harvard University. “Gaza’s waterfront property, it could be very valuable to, if people would focus on kind of building up, you know, livelihoods,” he said.

Kushner openly supported Israel’s goal to “move the people out and then clean it up.”

Saudi Arabia’s Investment

Kushner, who previously served as a senior advisor on Middle Eastern policy, founded Affinity Partners, an investment company funded by the Saudi sovereign wealth fund. This fund invested $2 billion in Israeli companies.

In preparation for increased investment, Israeli regulators approved a deal for Affinity Partners to double its stake in Phoenix Financial, a company benefiting from illegal settlements in occupied Palestinian territory.

Netanyahu’s Gift and Message

During his meeting with Trump, Netanyahu presented him with a golden pager, a token of Israel’s controversial September attack on Lebanon. The attack resulted in the deaths of over a dozen civilians, mainly children, and was condemned as a violation of international law, including by former CIA Director Leon Panetta.

Trump praised the attack as a “great operation,” accepting the pager with an engraving reading, “To President Donald J. Trump, Our greatest friend and greatest ally. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.” In return, Trump gifted Netanyahu a signed photo with the inscription, “To Bibi, a great leader.”

Conclusion

The administration’s policies under Donald Trump have consistently backed Israel, sometimes at the cost of international law and ethical considerations. The potential for the Trump family and their business partners, like Jared Kushner and Saudi Arabia, to profit from these actions raises significant concerns about the implications for Palestinian well-being and human rights.

These developments underscore the complex interplay of geopolitics, economics, and ethics in the region, highlighting the need for careful scrutiny and balanced perspectives.

As these events unfold, it is crucial for the international community to monitor and respond appropriately to ensure that human rights are protected and just outcomes are achieved.
