The brake dog’s forest trip led to a long rescue operation in Liper. The events started on Saturday, when Jarru-koira disappeared from his owner in the forest. The owner located the dog on a steep rocky slope. The dog had probably gone into the hole in the rock after the fox.

For a day, the owner tried to lure the dog out of the hole in the rock without success. On Sunday, he alerted the rescue personnel to the scene. Rescuing the dog required chipping and drilling the rock.

The rescuers were able to see the dog with the help of a viewing device. Warm air was blown into the cavity to prevent the dog from freezing. When the owner called his dog, he answered from the rock hole, but still could not get out of his trap.

The rescuers worked on the spot non-stop for 33 hours. Finally, an opening was made in the rock, from which the Brake dog could get out and into the owner’s arms. The rescuers estimated that the route from which the dog had entered the cave had probably collapsed.
