More than 80 human footprints were discovered in 2022 by scientists on the coast of northern Morocco. Their study, published recently in the magazine Naturereveals that these are Homo sapiens footprints dating back around 100,000 years. They were left by at least five individuals, including children. The orientation of the tracks indicates that the group was heading towards the sea, probably in search of food and shellfish.

For Belgian paleoanthropologist Isabelle Crevecoeur, research director at the CNRS, contacted by RFI, these very precious footprints help scientists measure the weight and size of these individuals. They also provide information on their way of moving, by walking or running. “ We are working on extremely meager indices for this period, so any information is crucialshe explains. These traces provide a snapshot of the life of this human group.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Space transportation company SpaceX successfully launched to send a NASA satellite worth almost 1 billion dollars (around Rp. 15.6 trillion) into orbit, Thursday (8/2/2024). The satellite is to monitor the health of the earth, from the ocean to the atmosphere.

Apart from that, NASA or the United States aviation and space agency also said that the satellite would be able to provide important data to help fight climate change.

The satellite, named PACE, was launched with SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket, after its launch had been threatened with cancellation on various previous occasions. After reaching the correct orbit, PACE will begin its observations aboard the International Space Station.

The satellite will collect data on aerosols and clouds, scanning the Earth every two days to analyze their chemical composition, movement and interactions. NASA’s PACE mission aims to explore the environment on Earth by studying ocean health,

Which came first, the galaxy or the black hole?New research subverts existing theories | Universe | Stars | Webb Space Telescope

New Study Shows Galaxies and Black Holes Coexisted and Influenced Each Other in Early Universe

A groundbreaking study published in The Astrophysical Journal Letters has revealed that galaxies and black holes not only coexisted but also influenced each other in the early days of the universe, completely overturning previous theories.

The traditional theory suggested that galaxies were formed first in the universe, followed by the appearance of black holes. However, a research team led by Joseph Silk, professor of astrophysics at Johns Hopkins University, used observations made by the James Webb Space Telescope to find that distant galaxies in the early universe appeared much brighter than expected, housing many young stars and black holes.

The team’s analysis indicates that in the first 100 million years of the universe, black holes and galaxies coexisted and played a significant role in each other’s fate. This finding challenges the previous understanding of how galaxies were formed and sheds new light on the early evolution of the universe.

According to Silk, the early universe went through two stages, with black holes accelerating star formation in the first stage and slowing down in the second stage as they shifted into an energy-conserving state.
