Saturday October 18: Referral to the authorities and opening of an investigation
The next day, Saturday October 18, 2025, around 3 p.m., the prefect of the department referred this matter to the Diourbel central police station. Informed of the seriousness of the facts, the public prosecutor at the Diourbel High Court immediately ordered the opening of an investigation.
The damning testimony of the big sister
Contacted by telephone, Ndiague Ndiaye known as Astou, aged 44, housewife living in Ngohé and older sister of the victim, confirmed the facts to investigators. Her testimony is edifying: according to her, it was only after the birth, once the tragedy was over, that the hospital staff finally agreed to take care of her sister as well as the stillborn baby.
The lifeless newborn would have been buried the same Saturday in the village of Ngohé, without any in-depth medical examination having been carried out according to Seneweb sources.
Ndiague Ndiaye and her little sister, Astou Ndiaye, aged 30, were summoned to the Diourbel central police station to be questioned as part of the investigation. Their statements are crucial to establishing responsibilities in this tragedy.

The investigation takes a decisive turning point this Monday, October 20, 2025. Around 8 p.m., in the presence of the public prosecutor at the Diourbel High Court, the body of the newborn was exhumed in the village of Ngohé. An autopsy must be performed to determine the exact causes of death and establish possible medical responsibilities.
