As part of the fight against the digital divide between rural and urban areas, 100 young people from the Saraya department are benefiting from basic computer training through the DigiTruck program, an initiative led by the company Huawei in partnership with the NGO Close the Gap.
KÉDOUGOU – This program, deployed in several regions of Senegal, aims to strengthen the digital skills of young people and facilitate their integration into the world of work. At Saraya, training takes place over a period of ten days, with two-day sessions for each group of 20 participants. According to the trainer, El Hadji Amadou Bâ, the initiative is part of a dynamic of promoting digital inclusion in Senegal. “This program is a Huawei initiative in partnership with the State of Senegal. The objective is to travel to all regions of the country in order to offer young people basic computer skills,” he explained, while thanking the youth inspector for his support.
The system is based on a truck specially converted into a mobile classroom, equipped with computers and autonomous touch screens. This innovative infrastructure makes it possible to bring training directly to remote locations and facilitate access to digital education. During the sessions, participants become familiar with several essential computer tools, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. At the end of the training, each beneficiary receives a recognized certificate.
The youth inspector, Babacar Mbodji, welcomed the initiative and encouraged young people to continue their learning. He recalled that mastery of digital tools today constitutes a major asset in meeting the demands of the job market.
