EHC Munich got the long-awaited three points in the DEL. The team was able to prevail in the derby against the Straubing Tigers – albeit with a lot of effort.

EHC Red Bull Munich won the Bavarian derby against the Straubing Tigers in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL). Coach Oliver David‘s team won 6:3 (1:1,1:1,4:1) in the powder keg ice stadium.

Although it was the hosts who first took the lead in each of the three periods (through Elis Hede, Stefan Loibl and Tyler Madden), the Munich team always had the right answer and quickly restored the tie. Same in the final third. The guests not only managed to equalize, but also got the starting signal for a furious end: Gabriel Fontaine increased the score to 5:3 in the 54th minute, and Veit Oswald then set the final chord with the 6:3 goal eleven seconds before the end of the game. Previously, Taro Hirose, Ryan Murphy and Adam Brooks also scored goals for the EHC.

Overall, Munich’s success was deserved, even if the game was much more balanced than the result reflected. The EHC faces the Iserlohn Roosters on Sunday, while the Straubingers face the Schwenninger Wild Wings.
