The province of Misiones has further solidified its position in public health by integrating a new da Vinci surgical system, recognized as the world’s most advanced robotic platform for minimally invasive procedures. The equipment has been delivered to the Posadas Health Park and is undergoing final installation,ensuring the robotic surgery program’s continuation for at least two more years.
According to David Rywaka, a key member of the medical team overseeing the robot, this acquisition will broaden the scope of surgical specialties offered. “This is the fourth generation of the DA VINTI. It is a totally advanced team, which will allow us to incorporate new specialties, such as chest surgery, and perform multicatory interventions, which we could not do with the previous model,” he stated.
Rywaka emphasized the efficiency of the procurement process: “A very good investment was made. With this acquisition supplies and operation are guaranteed for at least two more years of the robotic program. In addition, the previous team will be delivered as part of payment, which represents significant savings.”
Since its initial implementation, the previous surgical robot facilitated over 2,000 high-precision surgeries, establishing Misiones as the only province in the country with this technology in a public hospital. “We were the first and we were still the only ones to have this level of complexity at the state level. Now there is a growing interest in other provinces, but Misiones continues at the forefront,” Rywaka added.
The new system is expected to be operational soon, pending completion of medical personnel training and technical adjustments. “We are practically ready to start using it. This advance represents a huge benefit for patients and a quality leap for public medicine in the province,” he concluded.
