Czech Olympic Weakness: Canada Match Preview & Survival Outlook

Overseas journalists thought about what the upcoming Winter Olympics in Italy could look like a line -up of Czech hockey players.

David Pastrňák, Martin Nečas, Ondřej Palát, Pavel Zacha, Radko Gudas and Lukáš Dostál. This is the first six names that the head coach Radim Rulík summoned to the Olympics.

The rest of the nomination will be known shortly before the tournament, which starts on February 11 next year.

However, there are already predications of what the complete Czech team will look like. Overseas, they have been the most widely devoted to him on the Daily FaceOff.

Journalists Matt Larkin and Steven Ellis agreed many. For example, on the fact that the goalkeeper trio should consist of Dostál, Karel Vejmelka and Dan Vladař. Petr Mrázek or rising star Jakub Dostál did not fit.

The probable number one is Dostál, which captured the Czech Republic at last year’s World Championship in Prague and Ostrava.

“Czechs should feel good about their goal area.

Where the Czech Republic loses, it is surprisingly defense. It was not precisely because of the lack of non -NHL backs at this year’s tournament of four countries.

Larkin and Ellis chose the following eight backs: Gudas, Filip Hronek, David Jiříček, David Špaček, Jan Rutta, Libor Hájek, Jakub Krejčík and Michal Kempný.

Only Gudas and Hronek have a certain place in the upcoming NHL season. Jiříček has a great chance in Minnesota for the main team, Špaček smaller.

“Clearly the weakest part of the Czech line -up. In short, there is not as depth as other superpowers,” Ellis said.

His colleague Larkin added, “against Switzerland and France should lead the Czech defense well, but against Canada will have the task of surviving rather than succeed.”

It is the difficult duel against Canadian superstars Czechs will play a group A, then they will follow the competition with France and Switzerland.

And Rulík’s offensive lines? According to Ellis, they should look as follows:

Červenka – farmer – Pastrňák
Kulich – Hertl – Nečas
Palát – Zacha – Kubalík
Tomasek – Faksa – Kämpf
Flek, O. Kaše

“The Czechs on the international scene have shown that they do not need a depth of the cadre to be competitive in order to attack.

Perhaps the biggest surprise is that Filip Chytil did not fit into the lineup. He fights in his career with brain shocks, but when he is healthy, he is one of the best Czech offensive players.

Larkin did not forget Chytil, together with David Tomášek “hid” among the substitutes:

Červenka – Zacha – Pastrňák
Flek – Hertl – Nečas
Palát – Kulich – Kubalík
Sedlák – Faksa – Kämpf
Tomasek, caught

Both journalists did not fit into the line -up by the hardship in the fourth line and the winner of the last Stanley Cup Tomáš Nosek. Outside the shooter Filip Zadina or FIG Adam Klapka, who captured at the last World Championship.
