Crans-Montana Training: Support Measures & Drama

Following the terrible fire that occurred on New Year’s Eve in Crans-Montana, which deeply marked the region, the Council of State received confirmation this weekend that several people affected, including at least five young people, reside in the canton of Geneva. He would like to express his solidarity and his thoughts with the victims, as well as their families and loved ones. Support measures will be put in place within training establishments to support the students and staff members concerned.

Several Geneva residents are among the victims of the terrible tragedy which took place in Crans-Montana, in Valais, on 1is jJanuary 2026. To the current knowledge of the Council of State, no deaths have been confirmed, but at least five Geneva students and apprentices are among those seriously burned.

The Department of Public Education, Training and Youth (DIP) is actively preparing for the start of tomorrow in this dramatic context for the youth of our country. The psychological emergency unit as well as the consultations of the medical-pedagogical office are ready to receive requests linked to the Crans-Montana tragedy, of which the establishment managements have been informed.

Students who wish to do so can contact their teachers, their group leaders or employees of the establishments’ medical-psycho-social teams. The general management is closely monitoring the situation and the system will be adapted if necessary. This system is in parallel with the support put in place by the health authorities and the police as part of the care of the victims of the fire and their families.

The Council of State expresses its sympathy to the victims and their loved ones. He also sends them a message of comfort and compassion in this painful ordeal. It reaffirms its commitment to ensuring that all necessary support is provided to those affected.
