The Consumer Price Index (CPI) stood at 2.4% year-on-year in January, half a point below the rate recorded in the last month of 2025 which represents the largest decrease since March of last year. The downward trend shown by the general index for 2026 has not been transferred to underlying inflation, which, according to provisional data published this Friday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), remains at 2.6% for the third consecutive month.
