GAA Enthusiasts Tie Knot: Emma Farmer and Conor Cotter’s Sports-Inspired Wedding

The first act for newlyweds Emma Farmer and Conor Cotter was sprinting off for a kick-about after exchanging their vows. This Irish couple, both dedicated sports enthusiasts, blended their love for games into every aspect of their wedding day.

About Emma Farmer and Conor Cotter

Emma Farmer hails from Aghada, while Conor Cotter is from Kilmichael, both in County Cork. They committed their love in St Finbarr’s Church, Kilmichael, in a wedding that was as memorable for its spirit of competition as it was for its union.

A Shared Adoration for Sports

“Conor and I are both GAA-obsessed,” Emma confided. “He plays hurling and football for Kilmichael, and I represent the Aghada ladies football team. We’re also avid supporters of soccer; he’s all in with Arsenal, and I’m a loyal Manchester United fan.”

A Celebratory Victory

Emma’s sporting achievements were on full display mere months before her wedding. She scored three crucial points for Aghada, securing their first-ever victory in the ladies county championship.

Charge into Ceremonial Beauty

Emma, known for her disregard of fashion, insisted that her wedding dress would match her spirit of grace on the field. She chose a stylized Jesus Peiro creation from Say I Do in Midleton. “I opted for Converse, as I rarely wear heels,” she admitted. Conor’s tailor was Suited Menswear in Midleton.

A Marathon Across the Border

The journey towards their special day was anything but typical. Emma and Conor met seven years ago in Reardens, Cork, and Conor proposed at Park Hotel Kenmare, Co Kerry. For the ceremony, they did not miss a chance to explore Ireland further. First, they visited Ross Castle in Killarney for striking pre-marriage photos. Following this, they reconvened their guests at The Heights Hotel Kinlare for the reception. Ellington Wedding Cars ensured they arrived at every location in style.

An Immaculate Ceremony

The couple organized their ceremony meticulously,. Family friend Fr Joe Coughlan officiated. Lynda Sloane-Cusack’s grazing sound provided a wonderful ambiance. “The ceremony was lovely,” Emma said. “Thanks to Fr Joe and Lynda Sloane-Cusack, our wedding singer, whose voice was amazing.”

A Team Effort with Friends

Emma Farmer had four bridesmaids: Lisa Ring, Laura Burchill, Emma Keoghan, and Bríd O’Regan. Conor, a human resources professional at Cork County Hall, was attended by Brendan Cotter, Oliver McCarthy, James O’Leary, and Denny Quinlan. An unexpected thrill came from a league of companions showing up as a live cheer squad: Emma’s Aghada ladies footballers, along with Kilmichael’s hurlers and footballers.

Melodic Mornings

Emma Farmer faced challenges even before the big day. Her hair was handled by Dawn Monaher, and Regina from Core Health & BeautyMidleton did her makeup. “It was an incredible day,” Emma said. “The music set the tone. Our first dance was to ‘A Rainy Night in Soho’ by The Pogues, and we just loved the rhythm of the songs all night long.”

The Emotional Highs of the Reception

At the reception, the band Bog the Donkey kept their guests on the dance floor. Nora Ni Luasa’s recurring floral patterns adorned the venue. The wedding was celebrated with a scrumptious cake made by The Bake and Bite, Clonakilty/Kilmichael. Emma’s countless rewards in sports proved to be justified with the celebration with friends, teammates and members of the wedding party.

The Future with Emma Farmer and Conor Cotter

Kilmichael’s post-wedding journey will be to the sun-drenched streets of Dubai or Cancún for their honeymoon. “We’re finalizing the destination. It’s likely to be Dubai or Cancún’s luxurious holiday retreats,” Emma declared.
