Each year, 9,000 new cases of triple negative breast cancer are detected in France. Since these tumors do not have hormone receptors, they do not respond to certain treatments. In Saint-Étienne, Martine Rémy has been fighting this disease for five years.

Once in remission, the Stéphanoise treated at the Léon-Bérard center in Lyon, suffered a relapse in September. This time, metastases appeared in his body. Because the other particularity of this cancer is the high risk of recurrence. In the metastatic stage, 5-year survival is 20%.

“We are in a tunnel”

“We are in a tunnel and we are moving forward day by day,” laments Aude Rémy, her daughter. “Mom started new treatments in November. We try a first cycle of chemotherapy then a new cycle of radiotherapy and if that doesn’t work, we will switch to Trodelvy. »

France was the first European country to benefit from this treatment which “doubles the life expectancy of triplets [les femmes atteintes de ce cancer, N.D.L.R.] metastasized.” This achievement was supported by the Triplettes Roses Collective, of which Aude Rémy is one of the representatives in the Rhône.

The association is stepping up actions to improve the care of triplets throughout France and enable progress in research into this cancer.

6,957 people and 40 companies mobilized in 2025

To finance innovative treatments, the Collective launched the Triplettes roses challenge. This connected sporting event will take place from February 28 to March 8, 2026. On foot, by bike, on horseback or swimming, the objective is to cover kilometers (wherever and whenever you want) during the duration of the challenge. 6,957 people and forty companies got involved in 2025, which raised 104,252 euros.

For this 4e edition, the Collective wants to attract even more professionals. “I will be proud to have a Saint-Etienne company at our side,” says Aude Rémy, determined to continue this fight for her mother and for all the Triplettes who die each year from this rare and aggressive cancer.
