COLUMBUS, Neb. (KOLN) – A rollover crash near Columbus Airport left five juveniles injured Saturday morning.

A preliminary investigation conducted by the Columbus Police Department shows that a red Ford F-150 traveling eastbound on 38th Street failed to stop at the intersection with 18th Avenue at 4:40 a.m. and drove through the airport fence.

Police said the five juveniles were taken to Columbus Community Hospital for treatment. The Columbus Fire Department also responded to assist at the scene.

Officers are reviewing all contributing factors, including the possible involvement of speed and alcohol, police said.

The crash remained under investigation Monday.

The Columbus Police Department is urging all drivers to prioritize safety, obey traffic laws and avoid impaired driving.

“We would like to remind drivers and passengers to buckle up,” Columbus Police Capt. Jaymee Levander said. “Accidents happen but injuries can be prevented by getting in the habit of buckling up.”
