Rabuka Awaits Inquiry Findings Before Acting on Ministers
Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says any action against cabinet members hinges on culpability revealed by the Commission of Inquiry.
Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has stated that he will only take action against other cabinet ministers if subsequent investigations reveal their culpability based on findings from the Commission of Inquiry.
Responding to questions about potential actions against other ministers following the Commission of Inquiry report, Prime Minister Rabuka clarified that the inquiry into the appointment of Barbara malimali as FICAC Commissioner was inquisitorial, not adversarial.
According to the Commissions of inquiry Act, evidence gathered during the inquiry is inadmissible in civil or criminal proceedings, accept in cases of false interpretation or false evidence given before the Commissioners.
Meeting with Deputy Prime Ministers Scheduled
“The Commission of Inquiry into the appointment of Barbara Malimali as FICAC commissioner, was not adversarial, it was inquisitorial.”
Prime Minister Rabuka has confirmed a meeting with the Deputy Prime Ministers scheduled for tomorrow.
He stated that he is unaware of the meeting’s agenda, as the Deputy Prime Ministers requested the meeting.
