Chopin Competition: Polish Pianists Dominate Stage 2

84 pianists from 20 countries took part in the first stage of this year’s Chopin competition. China was most represented in the competition – 28 pianists, Poland and Japan had 13 representatives each.

In the first stage, participants appeared in alphabetical order according to the first letter of their surname. The letter from which the first stage begins is determined by drawing lots. This year we started with the letter “T”, and Ziye Tao was the first to perform.

During the first stage auditions, the jury of 17 experts awarded individual scores from 1 to 25 to each artist. The points were counted and, based on these results, the jury selected 40 artists who moved on to the next stage of the competition. Importantly, these points will be added to the pianists in the results of the next stages.

However, the struggles of pianists during all stages of the competition eliminations will be broadcast for free both on television and on the Internet.
