Chinese Foreign Minister Warns Wadephul Against ‘Microphone Diplomacy’

Following the short-term postponement of a trip to China by Federal Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi called on Germany to not to engage in “microphone diplomacy”.. He also called on the Federal Republic to “no unfounded accusations “to raise questions that contradict the facts”.

At the end of October, the Foreign Office postponed Wadephul’s planned visit to China shortly before his departure. The reason given was that the Chinese hosts had not confirmed any other dates for Wadephul apart from the meeting with Wang.
