Ukrainian president Volodymyr zelenskyy has announced the capture of two Chinese citizens allegedly fighting alongside russian forces in the Donetsk region of Ukraine [[3]].According to Zelenskyy, these individuals were actively engaged in combat against Ukrainian troops. The Ukrainian leader stated that his forces seized the individuals’ identification documents, bank cards, and personal information [[2]].

China’s response: Seeking Clarification and Warning Citizens

In response to these allegations, China’s Foreign Ministry has stated that it is indeed actively working to verify the information with ukrainian authorities.A spokesperson, Lin Jian, emphasized that Chinese authorities consistently advise citizens to avoid conflict zones and refrain from participating in any form of armed conflict [[1]].

China’s authorities have always asked their inhabitants to stay away from areas of armed conflict and avoid being involved in armed conflicts of any kind.

Though, these claims have been dismissed by China as “baseless,” according to AFP reports.
