China has officially announced that the standard GB 6675.1-2014 will be replaced by the new version entitled GB 6675.1-2025 Toy safety – Part 1: Basic requirements is replaced. This update is part of broader regulatory measures to improve product safety in the children’s toy sector. Although the full technical details of the revised standard have not yet been released, the change signals China’s continued commitment to aligning national regulations with international safety standards. Toys usually require one CCC certificationto be approved for import and sale in China.

The China Compulsory Certification (CCC) is a mandatory conformity assessment system designed to protect consumer safety and ensure the quality of products on the Chinese market. CCC certification is key for toys as it ensures they comply with national standards such as GB 6675 and do not pose risks from hazardous materials, mechanical parts or flammable components. Manufacturers – both domestic and international – must undergo extensive product testing and factory inspections before they can receive the CCC mark. It therefore represents an essential prerequisite for market access in China’s regulated toy sector.
