Woman Arrested for Assaulting 35-Day-Old Son in Imbé

A 25-year-old woman was arrested last Friday (12) in Imbé for allegedly assaulting her 35-day-old son.The family issued a statement on Sunday (14) claiming she is on controlled medication and undergoing psychiatric treatment.
The incident gained notable attention this Saturday (13) after videos of the alleged assault circulated online.The videos purportedly show the woman slapping the baby’s face.
According to the Guardianship council, the child’s father received the videos from his former partner. He stated that the material was sent to emotionally manipulate him and force him to return to the family. Although the files were sent in single-view mode, the man recorded the images using another phone.
The woman reportedly admitted to the aggressions when questioned by the Guardianship Council and the Imbé Municipal Guard (GMI). According to the child and adolescent protection agency, she stated that “she was not to hurt” and acknowledged that she acted wrongly.
The woman, whose name has been withheld to protect the victim, was charged and the delegate on duty requested pre-trial detention.The baby was taken to the 24-hour Emergency Care of Imbé and subsequently transferred to the Tramandaí Hospital for specialized pediatric evaluation. The child is reported to be in good condition and has not suffered any fractures.
The Civil Police (PC) are set to launch an inquiry into the case. The child’s parents and other family members are expected to be formally interviewed in the coming days.

In a statement, family members assert that the accused is on continuous controlled medication for psychiatric treatment, which they claim can “cause side effects capable of compromising their state of consciousness and discernment.”
