CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – For the fourth year in a row, Charleston was named the best small city in the United States, according to Condé Nast Traveler readers.

The team at Condé Nast Traveler tallies up reader votes annually, and Charleston has taken home the top spot fourteen times in the past fifteen years.

Readers said that when you consider all Charleston has to offer, it’s no surprise the Holy City consistently ranks among the best.

“While its robust food scene, which includes a steady annual circuit of nationally recognized food and culture festivals, continues to be a draw, visitors are rarely prepared for the city’s good looks. Stately homes, cobblestone streets, waterfront views, and an abundance of flowering window boxes only add to its welcoming vibe. Find a seat among its many outdoor terraces for a drink and some fresh oysters, and try to resist the urge to up and move here.”

Additionally, Hilton Head and Kiawah Island were named among the top islands in the country. At the same time, The Sanctuary on Kiawah was honored as one of the best resorts in the world.
