CCOO: Irregularities in Social Security Exams & Responsibility Claims

by Archynetys Economy Desk

The CCOO union has denounced possible irregularities in the selective process called by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration within the 2024 Public Employment Offer and in which 1,250 places were offered for the provision of jobs in the Social Security Administrative Body (C1).

In a statement posted on its websitethe union has explained that these possible irregularities “could affect the correct development of the process and compliance with the principles that should govern access to public employment“.

For this reason, the union points out, it has requested both Elma Saiz and those responsible for the ministry “the appropriate clarifications, as well as the review of those aspects that may not fully comply with current regulationsin order to guarantee equal opportunities and legal security for all participating persons”.

CCOO acknowledges in its statement that it learned a few days ago that the same Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration had launched the preparation of a report, as well as the intervention of the Prosecutor’s Office. However, the union regrets that “We do not currently have formal information through legal channels, despite our demands“.

“This situation worries us and from the union we trust that the convening body will adopt the necessary measures to ensure the correct development of the selection process and preserve confidence in the procedures for access to public employment,” the statement said.

Too many outstanding despite the difficulty

Last week the local media The Voice of Galicia reported that it had been Social Security itself that had informed the Prosecutor’s Office of the possibility of fraud in the Social Security examinations held in Galicia in September. The reason had been the high number of outstanding despite the difficulty of the tests.

Ministry sources confirmed it to Europa Press: “After determining signs of irregularity during the selection process, the Ministry initiated a prior information processconsisting of interviews and analysis and review of the procedures and documentation in order to specify the circumstances.”

“As a result of this exhaustive analysis, it was found facts that could constitute several crimes and that they deserve an investigation with the necessary resources and means, involving the authorities that have greater powers for this purpose,” the Ministry sources stated.
