A donor helped the patient (Umm Assem) pay 13,125 dirhams, the cost of renewing her health insurance card, ending her suffering with breast cancer, which lasted for approximately three years, which will help her undergo chemotherapy, radiation, and undergo the necessary medical examinations.
The patient’s husband had explained to Emirates Al-Youm that his wife needed this amount in order to be able to renew her health insurance card, in order to enter her into the exemption program for cancer patients.
He added that his financial circumstances prevent him from providing the required amount, calling on good people and people with compassionate hearts to help her arrange the amount, so that she can resume her treatment journey.
The “hotline” coordinated between the donor and the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai, to transfer the value of the donation to the “Daman” company to renew Umm Assem’s health insurance card.
The patient’s husband expressed his great happiness and deep thanks to the donor, appreciating his kind initiative in light of his financial suffering.
According to what he told Emirates Today, on December 25, Umm Assem had suffered from breast cancer for about three years, and needed chemotherapy, medications, and periodic medical follow-ups, which required renewing her health insurance card to complete the treatment, and to include her in the exemption program for cancer patients, but her husband’s financial circumstances prevented him from providing the amount required to renew the card.
The husband appealed to good people and kind-hearted people to help him arrange the money, so that his wife could continue treatment.
He said: “My wife suffered from pain in the chest area, and I noticed a tumor in the breast, so I transferred her to Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City Hospital in Abu Dhabi to conduct the necessary tests and check on her.”
He added: “She stayed in the hospital for two days at the doctor’s request, and was given some medications and painkillers to control her health condition. During that period, she underwent the necessary tests, x-rays, and tests. The results of the tests showed that she had a tumor in the chest on the right side, and the doctor confirmed her need for a special type of treatment, medications, and periodic follow-ups.”
He added that he provided for her treatment costs with the help of health insurance, but the expiration of the insurance card prevented him from continuing to pay the hospital bills, because he is unemployed due to his old age.
He pointed out that renewing the health insurance card costs 13,125 dirhams, which will allow it to be included in the exemption program for cancer patients, thus reducing the cost of treatment.
He explained that his eldest son was the sole breadwinner for the family of seven members, and he used to send them a monthly sum to help them live, but the son finally lost his job, and they no longer had a source of income.
He said: “We are currently living on financial aid, provided to us by one of our relatives, to cover the expenses of food and drink and the rest of the basic daily needs.”
