The Ministry of Industry provides the latest news about the development of an electric car factory in Indonesia. Especially participants who get incentives or take part in the imported electric car tax program.
Director of Maritime Industry, Transportation Equipment, and Defense Equipment (Ilamatap) of the Ministry of Industry, Mahardi Tunggul Wicaksono revealed as many as six companies participating in the imported electric car incentive program including Citroen, Aion, Maxus, VW, BYD, Geely, Vinfast, Xpeng, to Great Wall Motors (GWM).

“Two companies are in collaboration with Assembler Local, PT Geely Motor Indonesia and PT Era Industri Automotive,” Tunggul said at the Ministry of Industry Office,
“Two companies expand production capacity, PT National Assemblers and PT Inchcape Indomobil Energi Baru, and two companies built new factories, PT Byd Auto Indonesia and PT Vinfast Automobile Indonesia,” he explained.
In his presentation, there were six companies that took part in the CBU incentive program with a total investment addition plan of Rp. 15 trillion and a plan to increase production capacity of 305 thousand units.
Furthermore, in the percentage, PT Byd Auto Indonesia is a brand that follows the incentive program with the largest investment. They built a factory worth Rp 11.2 trillion with a production capacity of 150 thousand units per year.
The construction of a factory located in Subang, West Java, has reached 45 percent of factory construction as of May 2025.
Still in the Ministry of Industry’s report, Vinfast who built its own factory in Subang, West Java has reached 77 percent development. The total investment is Rp. 3.5 trillion with a production capacity of 50,000 units per year.
As mentioned earlier, not all manufacturers build independent facilities in Indonesia. Some are in collaboration with assembly partners, including:
