The relegation-threatened 1. FC Heidenheim brought in a full-back from Bundesliga rivals TSG Hoffenheim immediately before the start of training. Hennes Behrens is moving to the second-to-last team on loan until the end of this season, the club announced. According to media reports, there is no purchase option.
Behrens ensures “additional quality” at FCH
In Heidenheim, the 20-year-old is planned as an alternative to the long-term injured Leart Paqarada. Now there is “additional quality on the left,” said Heidenheim’s CEO Holger Sanwald. “With the loan we managed to close the gap.”
However, Behrens probably needs another two to three weeks to be able to get fully involved, as Sanwald explained after the first session. “He’s at 90, 95 percent.” Behrens has so far completed two professional appearances in the TSG first team. This season he played four times for Hoffenheim’s third division team before he tore a muscle fiber. “This loan comes at just the right time,” said Hoffenheim’s sports director Andreas Schicker.
Keller to Dresden – further access possible
Thomas Keller will no longer play for FCH for the time being. The central defender, whose contract is valid until June 30, 2028, is also leaving the club on loan and will play for second division club Dynamo Dresden until the end of the season.
Sanwald does not rule out further changes to the squad. “It’s no secret that we want to do something on the offensive – attacking midfield, maybe forward. But there’s nothing ready to say yet,” said the 58-year-old.
