Brussels Airport Closed: Drone Reports Halt Flights

by Archynetys World Desk

“We are investigating reports of drone activity in the vicinity of the airport. For security reasons, no aircraft are currently taking off or landing,” the portal quoted an airport spokesperson as saying.

Planes that were originally headed for Brussels were redirected by dispatchers to nearby airports in Charleroi and Liège, but also to, for example, Maastricht or Eindhoven.

The newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws reported that witnesses saw at least three drones over the Belgian capital. The Aviation Authority and the police are now searching for the operators of the drones.
