Briones Marasovics: Business Restructuring After Yadrán Sale

by Archynetys Economy Desk

From the rough sea of the Chilean south, to the solidity of brick and personal businesses. The Briones Marasovic estate is now moving to the mainland with real estate operations in Chile, the United States and Europe and new family and personal projects. Under the umbrella of his family office “Arcoiris”, Felipe Briones Goich (76) and his three children Felipe Hernán (43), Ana Josefina (41) and María Victoria (35) Briones Marasovic became a highly liquid holding company after the sale of Pesquera Yadrán to the Japanese company Nissui for US$ 133 million.

On August 25, 2025, three months before the sale to the Japanese of the salmon farm, which also had Chilemarket (Vicente Muñiz) and Inversiones Crucol Limitada (Gastón Cruzat and Sergio Colvin) as shareholders, Felipe Briones Goich established Inmobiliaria Arcoiris Limitada, controlled by Inversiones Arcoiris Limitada (99.9%), the long-standing company with which the businessman has done his business. The other shareholder is Inversiones Yadran SA (0.1%). The operation could be interpreted as an official recognition of the weight that the land will begin to have in the formation of the new family heritage, they recognize those around the group.

In any case, the Briones Marasovics manage – until now – an important part of their real estate portfolio – land and properties – through Inversiones Puente Nuevo and Inmobiliaria Nevada.

In the deed of Inmobiliaria Arcoiris Limitada, the statutes explicitly designate María Victoria Briones Marasovic as the substitute administrator, with full powers, in the event of the absence of Felipe Briones Goich. In the market they say that the designer from the Catholic University and MBA from the U. of Chile in 2022 has been taking a leadership role in this area in the last two years, especially in new projects.

In addition, he manages his own investment vehicle, Inversiones Victoria Limitada, established in April 2010, together with his father. He has entered into some real estate businesses together with his older brother, Felipe Hernán.

Those who know her describe her as a businesswoman very similar to her father in the way she operates. His MBA thesis was a business plan for value-added salmon products. Between 2021 and until the sale of the company, she was the director of Yadrán and was the company’s representative before the Chilean Salmon Marketing Council in the United States.

Like his father, he also likes to fly. In 2024 she obtained her private pilot license, after having made her first solo flight in December 2023.

Charters

People close to them say that the three Briones Marasovic brothers are very close to each other and that in business matters they usually act in coordination, generally as a block. But they are not very active on a daily basis, compared to their cousins. The predominant role still corresponds to his father, the second of the five children of the legendary Hernán Briones Gorostiaga, former president of Sofofa and creator of the business group, who died at the end of 2005.

A Commercial Engineer and MBA from the Spanish School of Administration (Esade), Felipe Briones Goich separated from his brothers in 2007, when he stayed with the Yadrán fishing company, while the rest of his family remained in Inversiones y Desarrollo, Invesa, the controlling company of Cementos Bio Bio and Indura, among other companies that they also later sold. The family unit, joint and collegial action, the clear roles of each one in business are something that, according to those close to the group, they have instilled in their descendants.

Felipe Biones Goic conducts his business mainly through the company Arcoiris, from which different companies are attached. Last May, he created Transportes y Servicios Aerales Arcoiris Spa, to enter the charter business. Those close to him also say that he is looking a lot at Patagonia, both Chilean and Argentine. He is also a contributor to a US$35 million private debt fund managed by Banchile.

Cycle change

Unlike his father’s industrial profile, Felipe, the first-born, turned to the new economy. In July 2022, he co-founded Living Metrics SpA, a startup for managing ESG (environmental, social and governance) metrics and corporate decarbonization, based on Artificial Intelligence.

UC Business Engineer, with an MBA from the Rady School of Management at the University of California, San Diego, is considered the best known of the three. He joined the Yadrán board of directors in 2016 and that year’s report especially presented him as a new director, highlighting his profile as executive director of Andes Chile SA and the NGO Crece Chile. As well as his time at Rambrands SA, a retail brand company, as Business Manager for Peru and Chile. He was there until mid-2018.

“He is very similar to his grandfather. He has a strong public vocation, interest in country issues and especially regulatory-environmental issues,” says a former Crece Chile. Briones was treasurer of this educational corporation formed by former Apoquindo School students and which develops projects for adults in low-income sectors. He was also part of the cabinet of Ricardo Irarrázabal, undersecretary of the Environment under the first administration of President Sebastián Piñera.

In the elections for the 2021 Constituent Convention, the businessman appears making a contribution of $2.2 million to the campaign of Juan Luis Ossa Santa Cruz, then candidate for District 26, Puerto Montt and Chiloé, the area where the family fishing operations were located.

Also a UC designer, Ana Josefina, was director of Yadrán since 2018. She maintains the communications agency Briones Undurraga, created in 2013, and which has provided services to companies of the family holding company, such as the design of annual reports. Its clients also include CCU, Juan Valdez, Parque Arauco, Ripley, P&G Larraín, among others.

The sale to Nissui closes a 45-year cycle that began when the Briones acquired Yadrán in 1980, at a time when Chilean salmon farming was just an experimental venture. Now, Felipe Briones Goich and his three children will remain concentrated mainly on their independent businesses, marked by a strong portfolio of land and properties that they manage jointly.
